End of the Format War!

Now that the format war is over what do we do now? Well, the first thing you got to do is wait. Just because one format won over another doesn't mean that you have to go out and buy a blueray player. At the moment many companies that produce players don't have that much competition which means higher prices for consumers. So after a while, many third party manufacturers will produce cheaper machines. Pretty much the same as how DVDs got cheaper after a while.

For those of you that actually bought HD-DVD players, tough luck. There's not much you can do. You can purchase the last movies that were ever made for half price at most stores. If you purchased a machine at a particular store in Japan, they're willing to do trade in's.

OK... I'm not really sure if some of this can really be considered to be fact. I was snooping around Yahoo! Answers the other day and found something really interesting. Just a bunch of unusual facts.

Relieving a Sick Day with Honey

Sorry that I haven't been caught up with posts lately. Recently I've caught this really bad case of the flu. Having horrible congestion and awful coughing. I've stumbled upon a nice remedy, which actually came from my mother. I've been drinking a mixture of honey, lemon, and hot water. That's it, and I've been feeling much better. You get vitamin C from the lemon, we all need more of that right? Well, the honey has some mysterious healing properties. Lifehacker did a post about some research done at Pen. State College of Medicine, which was analyzing the healing properties of honey.

The study actually focused on children (for whom stronger cold medicines aren't recommended), and although I doubt honey can knock you out like a spoonful of NyQuil, the honey stood up very well in the tests, consistently outscoring cough medicine in parents' ratings of their children's symptoms.

The sweetness of honey is a plus too.

Ever want free money from the interweb? I know I do, one of the motives behind starting this blog. It doesn't have to revolve around typing stories and having people click ads though. There's this great site out there called Moola. In this site, you get paid for playing online games. These games are your typical rock/paper/scissors games that you play against a random person. Every time you win a game, the money bet on that game doubles. You can even potentially win ten million dollars. That's right, million with an M. Open Source Chat Client

I, along with most of the internet, have started moving away from big name companies and started using open source applications. A common one that most people familiar with is Firefox, which is nice, fast, and works well with all operating systems.

Well, I'd like to introduce all of you to pidgin. Pidgin is an open source instant messaging client. It works well with IRC, AIM, MSN, YAHOO, and many others. You can even log onto all of those accounts at the same time. The thing i like most about this is that it is very easy to use and setup. Another thing is that this is open source, so there are no viruses or Trojans that can be carried by it. If there are any, they can be easily found by looking at the source code. All of the features your standard client has, Pidgin pretty much has too.

Blogs: The new Journals or Diaries + Super Mario

This may be a little late for me to jump into the blogging trend. It's so '03 right? Well, I've been rather lazy lately and I need something to jump start my desire to get things done. You know, some kind of hobby or routine to keep me from getting lazy.

My ultimate goal for this blog is to make it a hub for all my favorite links. A place to put funny videos, articles I'm interested in, or just general tips for people. Kind of like the bookmarks sidebar in Firefox with sites along with RSS feeds.
